Cart Information & Placement

Cart Information & Placement

The Carts
West Deptford Township has purchased the carts that are being distributed, these carts are specially constructed to be used in an automated or semi-automated collection system. These carts are the only containers which can be used for trash and recycling collection. Every residential address in West Deptford Township will receive one (1) trash cart (green) and one (1) recycling cart (blue). Each cart is 95-gallons.
The cart has a serial number that corresponds to your address.  The cart is the property of West Deptford Township. If a resident sells their property, the cart must remain at the address.
DO NOT REMOVE CART FROM RESIDENCE.

Additional Carts
Residents may purchase ONE additional trash and/or ONE additional recycling cart, if necessary. You may purchase the additional carts at the West Deptford Municipal Building Finance Office or RiverWinds Community Center for a one-time payment of $60 per cart. The cart(s) will then be delivered to your house within a week of purchase..

Damaged Carts
Often, the wheels and axles of the carts can snap or fall off. If this happens or your cart is damaged, please leave your cart at the curb and call the Public Works Department. After reported, an employee will be out to assess the cart and make the proper repairs or replacements.
Carts will only be replaced if damage sustained affects the overall function of the cart. The equipment used for collection can often create scratches, smears, and other minor damage to the carts. Carts with aesthetic imperfections are unable to be replaced at this time.

Cart Placement
Please place trash and recycling carts at least four feet apart from each other and clear of any stationary objects (cars, trees, electrical boxes, mailboxes, etc.)  Carts should be placed with can opening accessible from the street and the wheels against the curb line to ensure proper dumping.
