Tax Assessor's Office

The Tax Assessor’s Office is responsible for the valuation of real property in the Township. In determining the assessed value of real property, the Assessor follows guidelines developed by the New Jersey Division of Taxation. The different classes of property are as follows: vacant land, residential, farmland, general commercial, industrial and apartments.

All properties are taxed using the same tax rate.

Copies of all building permits come into this office to be reviewed and processed. A visit/inspection will be made by both the Assessor and the Construction Code Officer.

This process will produce an added assessment and tax bill for any of the following items: additions, porches, decks, patios, garages (attached or detached), in-ground pools, central air, new construction (homes, commercial buildings, etc.), as well as, renovations/remodeling.

Dwellings that are at least 20 years old may be eligible for a five-year exemption on additions, porches, decks, patios, attached garages, central air. Applications are available in the Assessor’s Office.

If a taxpayer has any questions or concerns about their assessment, they can meet with the Tax Assessor, or file a tax appeal with either the County Board of Taxation, or Tax Court on or before April 1st each year.

If you are a new homeowner, or you have refinanced your mortgage it is extremely important that you notify the Assessor’s Office in regards to the name and address of your mortgage company. If you have paid off your mortgage, or changed your mailing address it is also extremely important that you notify us.
